Thallay La Trek Thallay la Trek is a mild trek of 7 days leading into Thallay La / Pass at an altitude of 4572m and descending down to the Shigar main town. Thallay La Trek is one of the short treks to explore the exotic mountain vistas of the Karakoram range in Gilgit Baltistan. Thallay La is an unglaciated pass between Thallay Village of Khaplu Valley and Shigar village. Thallay La Trek is considered to be one of the easiest and introductory treks in the Karakoram range. During the Thallay La trek, we mostly hike along with the pasturelands and will be welcomed by the herds of cattle and their caretakers all the way to Shigar village. The lush green Thallay Lungma (Valley or Canyon) is located 15 km west of Khaplu main town and 85 km from Skardu City.
Thallay la Trek either can be taken from Thallay village and ended up in Shigar Valley or can be started from Shigar and ended up in The Thallay village, that’s why it is also known as Thallay La Shigar Trek. Thallay La is an ancient pass that connects two major valleys’ of the Baltistan region, Shigar and Khaplu Valley, and the La is an ancient passage of locals inhabitants.
